My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 10:27 KJV
Many have excused themselves from rendering their gifts to the service of Christ because others were possessed of superior endowments and advantages. The opinion has prevailed that only those who are especially talented are required to consecrate their abilities to the service of God. It has come to be understood by many that talents are given to only a certain favored class to the exclusion of others who of course are not called upon to share in the toils or the rewards. But it is not so represented in the parable. When the master of the house called his servants, he gave to every man his work.” (SC 82)
With tools like Google Translate, I catch a glimpse of what communication might be like in Heaven—free from the barriers of language. While Heaven will be far greater than anything we can imagine, I’m truly grateful that language is becoming less of a barrier here and now, allowing us to connect more deeply across cultures.
In a similar way, when we rely on the Holy Spirit, we can align ourselves with the will of Jesus. In the parable of the master and his servants, those who are attuned to the Master’s voice are ready to act according to His will. Each of us is called to serve in ways that reflect the unique gifts the divine Giver has entrusted to us. God does not choose based on wealth, intellect, influence, or ability—but rather seeks those who are humble and willing to follow Him.
As God’s remnant who are living in the cusp of the end times, let us earnestly seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit each day, especially as we study Thus saith the Lord. When we cultivate a deep and abiding relationship with our Creator and Redeemer, Jesus assures us that we will recognize His voice and faithfully follow Him wherever the Lamb goes (John 10:27, Revelation 14:4). Amen.
