Key insights:

There is nothing more calculated to strengthen the intellect than the study of the Scriptures. No other book is so potent to elevate the thoughts, to give vigor to the faculties, as the broad, ennobling truths of the Bible… SC 90.1

But there is but little benefit derived from a hasty reading of the Scriptures. One may read the whole Bible through and yet fail to see its beauty or comprehend its deep and hidden meaning… SC 90.2

Never should the Bible be studied without prayer. Before opening its pages we should ask for the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, and it will be given… SC 91.1

Promise to hold onto:

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39 KJV)

What we learn about God:

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so that He may abide with us forever (John 14:16). Sister White emphasized in her writing that we need to always ask for the help from Holy Spirit before we attempt to open the Bible. He will help us to understand the Scriptures and will help us to remember all verses we have already put in our hearts (John 14:26). Ask for the Holy Spirit from the Father, because He is eager to give the Holy Spirit to us who ask from Him.

Action Step:

Order my steps in thy word… (Psalm 119:133 KJV) In all we do, in all our steps, do them based on Thus saith the Lord because “… thy word is truth.” (John 17:17 KJV) and “… the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32 KJV). God’s Word, His righteousness and our obedience will set us free from the bondage of sin, from all the guilt of it, from the accuser and to live a life of a saint worthy for God’s Kingdom.
