Key insights:
Through the right exercise of the will, an entire change may be made in your life. By yielding up your will to Christ, you ally yourself with the power that is above all principalities and powers. You will have strength from above to hold you steadfast, and thus through constant surrender to God you will be enabled to live the new life, even the life of faith. SC 48.1
Promise to hold onto:
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 KJV)
What we learn about God:
As Sister White mentioned “Desires for goodness and holiness are right as far as they go; but if you stop here, they will avail nothing…” (SC 47.2) This is just what she means by “… We cannot be half the Lord’s and half the world’s. We are not God’s children unless we are such entirely.” (SC 44.1) Desiring to be a Christian is one thing but to actually do it is an entirely different thing altogether.
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (Matthew 22:37 KJV)
God desires your entire heart as he mentioned in above verse to change us from inside out. Notice He said all which equals to 100%; whereas, the enemy only requires a small portion of us to cling onto him in order to sway us from our Savior.
Action Step:
Apostle Paul’s advice to “… die daily” (1 Corinthians 15:31) is not for our temporal self to physically die but to let our carnal nature die and for our sinful character to be hidden behind our Redeemer’s righteous character. When our carnal nature dies, there will be space for Holy Spirit to fill in our hearts. Let His Holy Spirit fill our hearts every day and replace our will with His will and be consecrated in Him.
